Melwood provides base operating support for this 5,500 acre Army post that currently includes 298 Army owned facilities, 9 Federally-owned facilities, 16 privately owned facilities and approximately 2,600 privatized family housing units.

Fort George G. Meade is a United States Army installation that includes the Defense Information School, the United States Army Field Band, the headquarters of United States Cyber Command, the National Security Agency, the Defense Courier Service, Defense Media Activity (DMA), and Defense Information Systems Agency.The Installation is home to approximately 8,693 military personnel along with approximately 25,079 civilian employees.

In 2011, Melwood assumed responsibility for the total facility management services at Ft. Meade.
