Promise Landing Farm at the Melwood Recreation Center

An inclusive equestrian program designed and offered in partnership with Promise Landing Farm for riders of all ages, regardless of disability.

With a shared vision to bring inclusive equestrian services to the greater D.C., Maryland and Virginia community, Melwood and Promise Landing Farm (PLF) have partnered to offer equine assisted programming to people of all ages, with specialized expertise in accommodations for people with disabilities. The unique therapeutic component of being in nature and interacting with horses can help address sensory and processing challenges for people with disabilities and support the healing process for veterans who have experienced trauma. Services are provided at the Melwood Recreation Center in Nanjemoy, Md. and the PLF headquarters location in Upper Marlboro, Md. Equestrian activities are also a key component of beloved Melwood programs including Camp Accomplish and Operation Tohidu®.
