March 6, 2024

The first-of-its-kind event will offer free essential resources and constituent services in one, convenient location in the community

Upper Marlboro, Md. – Prince George’s County Councilman Sydney J. Harrison (D) is partnering with Melwood, a leading national employer, advocate, and preferred provider for people with disabilities, to connect residents of District 9 with resources found within their community. The District 9 Melwood Community Resource Day will be held on Saturday, March 9 from 10am – 2pm at The Tree of Life Christian Ministries, located at 9109 Piscataway Rd, Clinton MD 20735.

The event will facilitate access to information about a variety of essential services in one convenient location. Representatives from healthcare, housing, education, employment, and support for people with disabilities will be onsite to answer questions about how these services work together and how residents can access them. The Melwood District 9 Resource Day will include informative booths, interactive activities, and subject matter experts who can offer one-on-one guidance.

“Prince George’s County, and District 9 specifically, has so much to offer, and we want to make sure our residents can connect with and utilize the resources available to them. Thanks to this partnership with Melwood, those living in District 9 and beyond will be able to learn about and access free resources, all in one convenient location,” Councilman Harrison said. “I encourage anyone needing support with healthcare, transportation, employment, disability services, voter registration to take advantage of this unique opportunity.”

Dozens of vendors are scheduled to be at the event, including but not limited to:

  • Employ Prince George’s
  • Hospice of the Chesapeake
  • District 22-C Lion Club Mobile Screening Unit
