What Our Washington Parent Pick Recognition Really Means

September 15, 2025

We’re honored that Camp Accomplish has been recognized as a finalist in the 2025 Washington Parent Magazine Pick Awards for both “Sleepaway Camps” and “Therapeutic Recreation Camps.” This recognition represents something deeper than an award—it validates a vision we believe should be the standard, not the exception.

Camp Accomplish, our collaboration with Children’s National Hospital, wasn’t created to be just another summer camp. We created a space where children with and without disabilities and chronic health conditions can experience the joy of camp together. This approach recognizes what we’ve always known: that children naturally embrace differences when given the opportunity, and communities grow stronger when everyone participates.

The recognition from Washington Parent Magazine reflects the voices of families who have witnessed firsthand how powerful this programming can be. These parents see their children connect through the universal language of play, developing empathy, building friendships, and gaining confidence in an environment that celebrates every camper’s unique contributions.

As we celebrate this honor, we’re reminded that the best experiences aren’t about accommodation—they’re about creating environments where everyone belongs from the start. Camp Accomplish proves that when we design with this principle as the foundation, we create experiences that enrich every participant. This recognition belongs to every family, counselor, volunteer, and medical professional who helped make this vision a reality.
