Melwood Enterprises has earned the CIMS-Green Building (GB) + Sustainability designation, placing the organization among only 10 CIMS-certified companies in North America to hold the distinction.
Administered by ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, the Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) is widely recognized as the custodial industry’s leading certification for service providers. The certification evaluates organizations across a broad range of operational areas, including quality management, service delivery, human resources, risk management, safety and environmental stewardship.
Among an Elite Group of Certified Organizations
Melwood Enterprises has maintained CIMS certification for more than a decade, successfully completing the rigorous recertification process every two years. While about 350 organizations hold some form of CIMS certification, the Sustainability designation represents an even higher level of achievement.
To earn the designation, organizations must satisfy all required standards and meet additional criteria related to sustainability and continuous improvement. The certification process includes extensive documentation reviews, employee interviews and site assessments conducted by independent auditors.
“CIMS is a holistic certification that evaluates nearly every aspect of an organization’s operations, from risk management and safety to training, procurement and sustainability,” said Brice Alexander, Executive Director of Melwood Enterprises. “Maintaining this certification for more than a decade and earning the Sustainability designation reflects the hard work and commitment of teams across Melwood Enterprises.”
A Team Effort Across the Organization
According to Sharon Pardo, Vice President of Contract Administration and Procurement for Melwood Enterprises, achieving the designation required close coordination across departments, job sites and leadership teams.
“Achieving the CIMS-Green Building + Sustainability designation required a comprehensive effort across our organization,” Pardo said. “From documenting processes and preparing for independent audits to ensuring consistency across sites, every team played a role in meeting the rigorous standards. This recognition reflects our commitment to quality, sustainability and continuous improvement in the services we provide.”
Rolanda Glover, Corporate Quality Control Manager, said maintaining consistency across sites was one of the team’s greatest challenges throughout the certification process.
“One of our biggest challenges in achieving this certification is demonstrating consistency across our sites to ensure we’re fully prepared to meet the CIMS-Green Building + Sustainability requirements,” Glover said. “We overcame that through communication, teamwork, training and everyone staying focused on the goal.”
Glover added that the certification is a reflection of employees across the organization.
“What makes me most proud is how the team came together,” she said. “Everyone worked hard, supported one another and remained committed throughout the process. Earning the certification really reflects the effort of the entire team.”
The designation further strengthens Melwood Enterprises’ reputation as a leader in custodial and facility services while demonstrating its ongoing commitment to quality, sustainability and operational excellence.
