More Than a Day on the Course: Community Partners Rally for Camp Accomplish

October 6, 2026

Under clear skies at the 7th Annual Melwood Champions Golf Tournament, 106 golfers representing 23 sponsoring organizations gathered at The Country Club at Woodmore for a day of competition, camaraderie, and community support. Together, participants helped raise more than $148,000 to benefit Camp Accomplish, the collaborative summer camp program operated by Melwood and Children’s National Hospital, helping support scholarships, programming, and accessibility enhancements for campers and their families.

While the tournament featured plenty of memorable shots and friendly competition, many participants said the true value of the event lies in the opportunity to support a program that continues to make a difference in the lives of children and families throughout the region.

“We support Melwood because the people at Melwood are everything. They do everything they can for everybody else and so we’re trying to do our part to do everything we can for them,” said Jon Payne of Ready Go Promo.

Strengthening Relationships

For many sponsors, participation reflects a commitment to supporting organizations whose impact extends far beyond a single event.

“We’re drawn to work that has meaning, and supporting Camp Accomplish through this tournament is one small way we can contribute,” said Dharma of Contrast & Co. “It’s rewarding to be part of something that brings people together while helping create opportunities and experiences that make lasting memories.”

Others pointed to the chance to support Melwood’s work while strengthening relationships throughout the business community.

“Melwood does great work, and this is an opportunity to get out and help,” said George Tawiah of Bank of America. “We value the chance to support an organization that’s making a difference while building relationships with others who are committed to giving back.”

For returning participants, the impact of Camp Accomplish makes the decision to support the tournament an easy one.

“This is an easy cause to get behind,” said James LaFleur of Truist, who was participating in the tournament for the second time. “When you learn about the impact Camp Accomplish has on children and families, it’s easy to understand why so many people and organizations continue to support it year after year.”

Community Partnerships

“We have been Melwood’s auditors for many years, but we have great affinity for Melwood,” said Tom of RMS. “I grew up in Prince George’s County, so I’ve long been aware of the organization and the role it plays in the community. When you look at Melwood’s history and everything it has achieved over the years, it’s hard not to admire the mission and the lasting impact it has had on so many people.”

Together, the tournament’s sponsors, golfers, donors, and volunteers demonstrated the power of community partnership. Their support helps ensure that Camp Accomplish can continue providing life-changing summer experiences for children while offering families a trusted and welcoming program they can count on year after year.

“The success of Camp Accomplish is built on strong partnerships, and this tournament is a powerful reminder of what can happen when people come together around a shared purpose,” said Joseph Diaz, Melwood’s Chief Growth Officer.
