Melwood Promotes Romell Buchanan to Chief Financial Officer

Upper Marlboro, MD—Melwood is proud to announce the promotion of Romell Buchanan to Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective December 7, 2025. In this role, Buchanan will lead the implementation of strategic and financial initiatives for Melwood and its affiliates, promoting fiscal discipline, fostering organizational growth and innovation, and overseeing financial planning, reporting, investor relations, and risk management.

Buchanan brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to Melwood’s mission. He first joined Melwood in May 2007, serving until February 2020. He then served as the CFO for the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless from 2020-2023, before returning to Melwood in January 2023 as Senior Vice President, Finance & Controller. His career reflects a longstanding dedication to advancing Melwood’s vision of empowering individuals with disabilities and fostering inclusion.
