NANJEMOY, Md. — Get ready for an evening of pumpkins, glow games, music, treats and family fun when the Melwood family of companies hosts its annual Family Fall FunFest and Spooktacular on Saturday, October 24, at the Melwood Recreation Center in Nanjemoy, Maryland.
The free community celebration will feature a trick-or-treat trail, pumpkin patch, LED mini golf, a glow dance party, food trucks and additional activities for guests of all ages. Families can decorate pumpkins, play games, shop handmade goods from local artisans and dance the night away with a live DJ.
The evening will also feature a special Camp Accomplish glow slingshot activity, giving families a chance to experience one of the kinds of activities offered at the Melwood Recreation Center during the summer. Representatives will be on hand to share information about Camp Accomplish, a collaboration between Melwood and Children’s National Hospital that provides a summer experience for campers ages 5+ with and without disabilities and chronic health conditions, as well as family camps during the spring and fall seasons.
“Melwood’s Family Fall FunFest and Spooktacular is an opportunity for families, neighbors and community members to come together in a welcoming environment where children and adults with and without disabilities can enjoy the festivities side by side,” said Larysa Kautz, Melwood president and CEO. “At Melwood, we believe people with disabilities should be fully included in every part of community life. This event is a chance to experience that vision in action while celebrating everything that makes this time of year special.”
The Family Fall FunFest and Spooktacular will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, at the Melwood Recreation Center, 9035 Ironsides Road, Nanjemoy, MD 20662. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
