April Taylor, COO of Johns Hopkins Hospital, works closely with physician and administrative leaders to drive operational excellence, helping to ensure that patient care at Johns Hopkins Hospital is safe, accessible and of the highest quality. Taylor joined as Vice President of Quality in November 2020 from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she spent 14 years in positions of increasing responsibility, including as Senior Director of Performance Improvement and Project Management, and Director of Quality and Patient Safety. She is a collaborative leader and a trained statistician with extensive experience applying performance excellence strategies. She has also distinguished herself as a leader through various professional roles, including Commissioner for the National Association for Healthcare Quality’s Healthcare Quality Certification Commission, and lead examiner for the Mid-Atlantic Alliance for Performance Excellence. Taylor serves on the Board of Humanim.
Taylor earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from The George Washington University and a Master’s Degree in Health Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Applied Statistics from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. A native of Maryland, Taylor is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Health Policy and Management at Johns Hopkins University.
