Melwood provide services for all designated spaces at the Center including, but not limited to, offices, laboratories, computer rooms, hallways and stairs, entrances, lobbies, restrooms, kitchenettes, loading docks, storage areas, elevators, exterior courtyards and exterior areas immediately adjacent to buildings. In total the custodial team is responsible for 3.7 million square feet of cleanable space.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA’s) Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), Greenbelt Campus, is located approximately 15 miles northeast of Washington, D.C., in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Situated on nearly 1,300 acres, NASA’s GSFC provides wide-ranging science and engineering support to the Agency. The campus consists of 36 major facilities, and approximately 52 smaller buildings and structures housing approximately 8,600 on-site employees. Melwood provides supervision, personnel and labor, supplies and materials, tools, equipment, communication devices and transportation, as well as management strategies necessary to carry out effective and comprehensive custodial services.

Melwood landscaping crews at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center deliver quality service each year that have garnered the attention of industry experts and county officials.

The team earned so many beautification awards from Prince George’s County- for five straight years- that their participation was officially retired in 2004 with the presentation of the county’s “Golden Trowel Award.” Our grounds team utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and technology, environmentally safe and government-approved products, proven management, and sound landscaping methods to beautify more than 1200 acres of land on the Greenbelt campus. We enhance our dependability with integrated quality control, competitive purchasing, proven subcontractor relationships, and ongoing staff and worker development, including participation/membership in professional industry organizations such as LCA and ALCA. Many plant materials come from our own greenhouses. Our staff are certified and licensed. Our workers are specifically trained in their areas of expertise.
