Melwood joins America’s Charities

Melwood is now a member of Community First – America’s Charities of Greater Washington, DC. Members of this charitable organization feed the hungry, protect women and children, provide medical services, and support families in need. To become a member, organizations must meet a set of standards that demonstrate the ability to provide an enhanced community impact. Such standards include organizational accountability, transparency, governance, leadership, and finances. Through this partnership, we will strive to enhance our corporate and donor relations, increase participation in public and private sector workplace giving, and expand our capacity and impact to effectively achieve our mission.
About Melwood
Melwood is one of the largest employers of people with disabilities in the country, employing more than 1,600 workers – nearly 1,000 of whom are people with disabilities. Melwood offers job placement, job training, life skills for independence, and support services to more than 2,500 people each year in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Melwood also has an inclusive summer camp program for children and provides employment and support services to veterans and active-duty military members who have experienced service-related trauma or injury.
