CEO Message: July 4th – Early Dismissal, Holiday and Remodeling Information
June 29, 2023
As we prepare to celebrate July 4th, I find myself thinking of the meaning of freedom. For our community, freedom means having the opportunity to live independently,
to experience the dignity and respect that comes with meaningful work, being actively involved in decision-making, and using one’s strengths to the fullest extent possible.
For 60 years, this has been the Melwood story.
In honor of July 4th, Melwood’s campuses in Prince George’s County, Charles County, and Arlington County will close at 3:30 pm on Monday, July 3rd, remain closed on Tuesday, July 4th and reopen on Wednesday, July 5th.
Due to the remodeling project, Melwood campus at 5606 Dower House Road will be closed to visitors on Monday, July 3rd only. Day Programming and other Melwood offices will operate as usual.
All Contract Employees and Day Program Staff should contact their site supervisors to verify departure times. We want to ensure that Melwood fulfills its obligations to the sites we support.
As I celebrate July 4th, I will also celebrate you! As of June 1st, you made it possible to serve 2,928 people in FY23!
Thank you for continuously moving our mission forward to enhance the lives of the people we serve. Have a safe and healthy holiday.

President and CEO
