October Employees of the Month

Each month, Melwood recognizes outstanding employees for their exemplary work and dedication. The following Melwood employees were selected as our October Employees of the Month:
Direct Support Professional Nomination
Eboni Borden (Temple Hills) is a Case Manager and a part of the Community Employment team in Temple Hills. Ms. Borden is a person of integrity, she is also very passionate about her work and dedicated to her clients. She is a team player and is viewed as a valuable resource of information to the Community Services team.
Grounds Maintenance Nomination
Jesus Pocasangre (DOE) has been a great employee for over ten years. This past month, Jesus has kept his area around the main building mowed neatly and well trimmed. He takes great pride in his work and likes looking good for the building tenants. Once his work is complete, he helps out crew members with their mowing, weeding and leaf removal. Jesus has also helped with pruning and cutting back perennials. Jesus Pocasangre does a great job and is always reliable.
Other Facilities Management Operations Nomination
John Bumpass (FBI) is the Assistant Project Manager and has been doing an outstanding job taking on additional responsibilities. John is very professional and a dedicated and hard worker. After speaking to the FBI COR she stated that Mr. Bumpass did an exceptional job overseeing the custodial operation.
We are also proud to announce the awardees of our Employee of the Quarter award (quarter ending on June 30, 2016). The Employee of the Quarter is selected from the list of previous Employee of the Month awardees during the months of April, May and June. The Awards Committee reviewed the nominees and the following Melwood employees were selected as our second Employee of the Quarter:
Shared Service Employee Nomination
Ellie Rivas, HRIS Specialist (Human Resources)
Ellie is a hardworking and caring employee who ensures that Melwood’s internal and external clients’ needs are met. She handles multiple tasks from setting up new hires in the Human Resources Information System, to regular reporting for managers, to answering a multitude of calls from employees and managers. Ellie is also one of the few bilingual HR professionals on staff and has provided aid to Melwood’s Spanish speaking employees and families. Ellie is always willing to jump right in and learn new tasks and go the extra mile to get things done and meet deadlines.
Direct Support Professional Nomination
Brenda Brown, Vocational Support Specialist (DHR)
Brenda has gone above and beyond to help complete several projects that support the people with differing abilities Melwood serves. Brenda works long hours to provide support to our contract workers who are on the night shift. She works side by side with our talent acquisition and security teams in HR to provide assistance to their projects. Brenda is a strong advocate and fights for our employees with differing abilities.
Custodial Employee Nomination
Marvin Randle, Custodial Worker (FBI)
Marvin Randle continuously receives kudos from the FBI staff regarding the quality of his work. The security officers and building tenants have witnessed Mr. Randle go above and beyond the call of his duties inside and outside of the FBI building. His supervisor considers him to be very diligent, remarking on the fact that he is always working, and takes great pride in the care he provides to his site. Marvin Randle sets a great example for the other employees at Melwood and is an exemplar representative of the organization.
Grounds Maintenance Nomination
Harold Williams (BEP)
Harold Williams is a Lead Worker on Melwood’s Bureau of Engraving contract. Harold leads the people with differing abilities we serve and is dedicated to our mission. When needed, he fills in as a floor worker on weekend and night shifts. He took on additional responsibilities during a time when there wasn’t a full-time site supervisor at the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) site and covered both sites, including the maintenance of the interior plants at USDA headquarters. Harold managed to keep both contracts running with minimal disruption. He is truly a valuable asset to Melwood.
Other Facilities Management Operations Nomination
Michael Franklin, Recycling Laborer (Ft. Meade)
Michael Franklin, Recycling Laborer, has been with Melwood since the beginning of the contract and has worked in roads, grounds, carpentry, and now recycling. Michael uses his repair skills to keep the recycling center running when small breakdowns occur, especially with repairs to the Hazmat Response Equipment. Michael is a “Jack of All Trades” and is always willing to go above and beyond to complete the mission.
